Statewide Industry Assessment

The 2010 report, Biobusiness 2010: Minnesota’s Competitive Position in the Biobusiness Technology Industries, provides a baseline assessment of biobusiness technology in Minnesota against which the state may be benchmarked. The report measures Minnesota’s biobusiness industry sector against 10 competing states (CA, IA, MA, NJ, NJ, NY, OH, UT, WA, and WI). Using the U.S. Economic Census standard industrial classification system (NAICS), the report contrasts 2007 federal data against 2002 and 1997 data to identify trends.

The 2006 report,BioBusiness: Minnesota's Present Position and Future Prospects, represents the first-ever comprehensive assessment of Minnesota's statewide biobusiness technology industry and provides Minnesota's leadership with a “line in the sand” against which to benchmark this industry. The report confirms Minnesota's technological capabilities and uncovers emerging technology-related opportunities in the human health and agri-bio/bio-industrial sectors of the economy.
